Netbook vs. Notebook (aka Laptop)
The other day I was buzzing around Frys and decided to take a hard look at netbooks vs. notebooks. The obvious issues to compare are:
Screen Size – To me this is the most legitimate issue in deciding which is better for you.
Battery Life – Do you travel a lot? This could be a deciding factor since netbooks have a battery life approximately 3 times longer than the average laptop.
Performance – If you are going to use the netbook for its intended purpose, to surf the internet or do email, this will not be an issue. If you want to do graphics processing it will be an issue.
Keyboard – This is a real issue especially if you have large hands.
Optical Drive – The lack of cd/dvd drives, to me, is of no consequence due to USB flash drives.
To me a netbook is perfect for a second traveling computer. One that you can take to the local coffee shop or on vacation.
