Going Into “Safe Mode” In Windows

August 12th, 2010

Many times it is best to troubleshoot your computer in “safe mode”. This is especially true when you are trying to remove spyware or virus’. Basically, “safe mode” allows only the most needed drivers to load and sometimes will not load a service a particular malware program needs to use.

Follow these steps:

Click on ‘Start’

Choose ‘Turn Off Computer’

Click on ‘Restart’

Once the computer screen goes black begin to tap the F8 key at the top of the keyboard.

A black screen with white writing will appear.

Using your up/down keys make your way to the choice “Safe Mode”

Hit Enter on your keyboard.

You will be prompted to confirm that you do want to go into ‘Safe Mode’

Confirm that you do by clicking on ‘Yes’

The graphics will be ugly and there will be some odd looking items, but it is from here that you can run programs to correct the problems you are having.

Enjoy.
